Hout Bay is only accessible via three routes, Chapman's Peak, Constantia Nek and Victoria Drive.
Victoria Drive, though perhaps not as breathtaking as Chapman's Peak, is certainly a route of absolute beauty in its own right.
Built by Thomas Bain, as recently as 1888, the current road still follows the basic lines of Mr Bain's road and has been ugraded through the years.
It carries the traveller within a freakwave of the sea on the one side and on the other, the foothills of the Twelve Apostles touch the kerb of the road.
Forming part of the All Round Cape Peninsula Road, this is an integral part of any travellers visits along the scenic routes of the Peninsula, leading on from Kloof Nek and to Chapman's Peak and at some stage incorporating the back end of the beautiful Peninsula's roads in the form of South Peninsula Drive, Smitswinkel Bay, Red Hill and Ou Kaapse Weg.
