Although the Akkedisberg Pass is near Stanford, it is very centrally positioned for one to hit out and visit other sites in the extended area, including numerous hiking trails.
De Mond Nature Reserve
Various day routes of easy nature in the de Hoop Nature Reserve, near Bredasdorp.
Various routes along footpaths in the De Hoop Nature Reserve and along the coast. They are return routes and are classed as easy. There are cottages and camp site at the base
Short routes from base on roads in the De Hoop Nature Reserve. They are easy to average difficulty and there are huts and cottages available, one hut is wheelchair accessible. It is near Bredasdorp.
This hiking trail is designed for nature lovers with a moderate degree of fitness. No children under the age of eight years are allowed.
A 10km,1 day, easy, circular route near Caledon.
Atwo day 25,3km trail. which is considered to be fairly strenuous. The trail starts and finishes in the historic settlement of Genadendal which dates back more than 200 years to when a Moravian mission was established. For those wishing to overnight before setting out on the trail, accommodation can be arranged through the church.
Boland: Hottentots-Holland Section
A 43km, 3 days trail near Grabouw, it has shorter options available. It is of average difficulty and is a circular route although there are some linear options. It is in the Hottentots-Holland Nature Reserve.

Hottentots-Holland: Suicide Gorge
An 18km, 9hour long, circular day walk involving some kloofing and is quite strenuous. There is no accommodation available and no camping is allowed in the reserve.
A 15km, 6hour long day walk which is difficult and circular, involving some kloofing. It is in the nature reserve, where there is no accommodation or camping.
Hottentots-Holland: Boesmanskloof-Orchard Route
A 30km, 2 day, circular hiking trail. There is a hut available.
A 24km, 8 hour long, average, return day walk in the nature reserve. There is no accommodation or camping in nature reserve.
A 22km, 7 hour long day walk which is average and cicular. It is in the nature reserve where there is no accommodation or camping.
A 6km, 2hour long route in the nature reserve which is easy and also safe for blind persons and persons with a disability but is not suitable for wheelchairs.
A 28km,2 day, one way hiking trail, in the nature reserve with huts available.
An 18km, 2 day, circular hiking trail near Grabouw with a lodge available.
A 6km, 2hours long walk in the Hottentots-Holland Nature Reserve. It is easy and is safe for blind persons but is not suitable for wheelchairs. It has tapping rails of pine logs;
A linear hiking trail of 17km, stretching from Greyton to McGregor through the beautiful Riviersonderend conservation area.
Arrange transport from the end of the trail unless attempting it in both directions, which is a popular option.
Plenty of excellent overnight accommodation is available in both towns.
Note that the McGregor end finishes at Die Galg which is approximately 14km outside McGregor.
The trail is considered fairly strenuous and hikers should be fit and well equipped.
This 3km long hiking trail near Greyton is suitable for most people. Meandering through succulent Karoo vegetation, it takes one to two lovely dams equipped with bird hides.

The Rooikat trail, near Greyton, is 19km long. It is circular and winds up and around the Elandsberg mountains and is fairly strenuous. The trail itself is quite rugged and good hiking boots should be worn.

A 37km, 2 day, average, circular. route in the Kogelberg Nature Reserve. There are no facilities at base but there is an overnight hut on the trail.
The Houwhoek Trail is an 8km (3 hours), moderate walk with views over Houwhoek and the Groenlandberg Conservancy area and leads through diverse fynbos vegetation
Kogelberg Highlands Trail
The Kogelberg Nature Reserve is situated near Kleinmond and is well known for its diversity of fynbos species.
The first day of the trail is 21km long and the second 16km.
It is a trail well worth doing. It is classed as moderate to long.
A 12km circular day walk of average difficulty with accommodation nearby. It is near Kleinmond.
Palmiet River Valley Walk
This easy 9-18 km trail hugs the Palmiet River, then takes you deep into the Kogelberg reserve to the Stokoe bridge and back again and is graded as easy.
Near Kleinmond, this is a moderate out and back day walk leading through diverse fynbos, and also provides vistas over the coastline and Palmiet River valley.

A 26km, 2 day trail with a 1 day trail available. It is an easy, circular route with an overnight hut.
