Oorlogskloof Nature Reserve

About ten kilometres south of Nieuwoudville, the rugged series of deep ravines cut into the Earth by the Oorlogskloof River offers hiking trails. It is home to several rare bird species, including booted eagles, black storks and gymnogene.

The reserve spans is over 5 000 hectares.

Nieuwoudtville Wildflower Reserve (1 km from town)

Let's not forget that 50 kms or so back along the N7 is one of the most diverse Wilderness areas, the Cederberg Wilderness Area, but that may be behind you, or indeed ahead, depending on the direction.

The beauty of the Cape Mountain Passes and surrounding interests is for the times when the journey and not the destination is important.
